Licolli Caps Win Over Lions 20-1 in Season Finale

C. Licolli put an exclamation point on the Spartans win over the Lower Moreland on May 17 by circling the bases on a infield error in a breakout 12-run fourth inning. Springfield pitchers Delaney L. (3-innings) and Amaiyah M. (1-inning) held the Lions to one run with a combined five strikeouts in four innings aided by four defensive outs by Charlotte D. at shortstop. The Spartans were hot on offense with a 5-for-5, 4-RBI performance by Norah C., 4-for-5, 2-RBI day by Alex E., 3-for-4 day by Phoebe A. and 2-for-3 performances by Lizzie M. and Emily W. Springfield capped the season with the mercy rule win and hopes to bring the momentum into next year building off an 11-game 2021 season that had eight competitive well played match-ups.

Sweltering Spartans top Trojans 8-5 with Textbook Team Win

Delaney L. held the Trojans to 4-runs over a season best 5-2/3 innings with six strikeouts to set up the save by Betsy H. in the Spartans 8-5 win on May 4. Springfield's pitchers were aided by a season best defensive performance of six outs at third base by Ashley J. and a combined five put-outs from left fielder Phoebe A. and center fielder Norah C. After two early earned runs by Wissahickon, Springfield's defensive domination allowed the Spartans to settle in on offense and put up 7-runs in the third and fourth innings with an insurance run scored in the top of the sixth. Patience at the plate was exemplified with a total of nine walks, six hits and only two strikeouts. Every player entered the game for Springfield and nearly every player had a hit or walk combining for a true team win. Offensive leaders included Norah C. with a 2-for-3 (with a double), 1-RBI performance, Lizzie M. with a 1-for-3 (double), 2-RBI day and Kelen R. with a 1-for-2, 2-run day. Springfield hopes to build momentum off the win for their next game vs. William Tennent on May 10.

Spartans Throw Out First Pitch at SLSS Opening Day Ceremony

Spartans JV representatives Lizzie M. and Chloe B. (pictured with future Spartans Hasell and Peyton) attended Springfield Little League Softball's (SLLS) opening day ceremony on April 10, 2021 and had the honor of throwing out first pitch for the 8U season. Festivities included a fire truck parade to the inaugural Opening Day ribbon cutting ceremony at the recently renovated Veteran's Field, new home for the SLLS program hosting a snack bar, picnic pavilion, batting cage and four fields. After the ceremony each division participated in a 45 minute clinic led by their coaches. SLLS serves Springfield Township including the communities of Erdenheim, Flourtown, Oreland and Wyndmoor with divisions at the following levels: 6U, 8U, 10U, 12U.
